about

This piece is an attempt to capture and extend the timeless essence of cathedral bells ringing out over the city. Church bells prefigure minimalism in the sense that they are rung in a continuous sequence that repeats and yet is never quite the same. Time is frozen while the bells peal - a combination of movement and stasis that uniquely captures the moment. This piece tries to extend the "eternal moment" of the tower bells of the Petri Dom in Bremen, Germany as they rang out on Easter morning, 2010.
