Improvised live to the computer hard disk for an ImprovFriday weekend thread event, Jim Goodin created "It Is But a Moment" on acoustic oud with its signal fed through a reverse delay, creating the sweeping rubbery envelope sound. The piece can be thought about as all the things in life that happen so quickly, and live so preciously.

Jim Goodin is a multi-instrumentalist and improvising musician living in Brooklyn, NY. Goodin creates and performs music that encompasses World influence, his native Arkansan delta blues roots, modern classicism and minimalism. He is a Mel Bay Publications, Inc., author, has endorsements with GHS Strings and Seagull Guitars, performs and records his music as a soloist, with Chinapainting and with Digitsignal. He is a member of the ImprovFriday new music community, co-hosts the ImprovFriday Radio podcast, publishes the WhatsNewAtImProvFriday blog and is designing his own electric oud.
